Amber partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas and West Pasco Counties. She completed all 12 of their courses, which covered topics such as home maintenance and repairs, fire safety, financial management, and being a good neighbor. In addition to these courses, Habitat participants are required to contribute 350 sweat equity hours, working not only on their own home but also on the homes of other Habitat participants. Amber exceeded this requirement, completing an impressive 476 hours!
Habitat homes are not free. Amber purchased her home through Habitat for Humanity, benefiting from a 0% interest loan.
"We are so proud of Amber! Because of her determination, commitment, and perseverance, she and her three children now have not just a house, but a home to grow and flourish in," said Abby Everingham, Director of Social Services at SPHA.
Amber's journey is a testament to the power of hard work and dedication. SPHA is proud to have assisted in the construction of Amber's forever home. A team from SPHA joined hands with Habitat for Humanity on April 18th to volunteer their time and efforts on Amber's home. SPHA is honored to have Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas and West Pasco Counties as a valued community partner.
