ST. PETERSBURG, FL (APRIL 12, 2024) - The Pinellas Continuum of Care (CoC) convened for a meaningful evening dedicated to addressing homelessness on April 9th. Hosted at the St. Petersburg Housing Authority (SPHA) Central Office, the CoC membership meeting provided attendees with valuable insights into the CoC's initiatives to combat homelessness in Pinellas County, an opportunity to meet the CoC board members, and a platform to explore innovative ideas.

Attendees at the meeting included SPHA President/CEO Michael Lundy and SPHA Board Chairman James Dates.

The CoC program promotes community-wide commitment to the goal of ending homelessness; provides funding for efforts to quickly re-house homeless individuals and families to minimize trauma and dislocation; promotes access to and effective utilization of mainstream programs; and optimizes self-sufficiency among individuals and families experiencing homelessness.

The Homeless Leadership Alliance of Pinellas (HLA) serves as the Pinellas Continuum of Care Lead Agency, Collaborative Applicant and HMIS Lead Agency. The HLA provides supplemental services, coordination and funding management to carry out the policy goals of the Continuum of Care.

The Pinellas Continuum of Care's Board of Directors is comprised of 25 members, including five elected officials and twenty community leaders (service experts, faith-based organizations, business representatives, a representative of the Juvenile Welfare Board, Housing Authority representatives, a healthcare representative, at-large representatives and individuals with a lived experience of homelessness). The Board does much of its work through two major councils and their committees, which provide comprehensive information and recommendations for action and approval to the Board. The Providers' Council and the Funders' Council each has sitting representatives on the Pinellas Continuum of Care Board. The Homeless Leadership Alliance relies on existing human services and business networks and committees as much as possible, to work together to identify concerns and make recommendations on homeless issues.
